GICR Masterclass on Coding and Staging

To increase the support available to local registries, GICR organized a "Coding and Staging - Train the trainers" workshop at IARC (Lyon, France) on 4 - 8 December 2017

The workshop brought together coding and staging experts working in cancer registration from countries within the IARC Hubs. Funding, provided by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), allowed participants from each GICR Hub region.

The workshop objectives were:

1) Unify criteria and develop the necessary training and reference materials to enable them to serve as experts within their region in general matters concerning ICD-O-3 coding and Essential TNM Staging, providing onsite support and training to affiliated staff in the registries; and

2) Develop a sustainable network of coding and staging experts that will interact to help identify issues and priority actions and contribute to capacity building.
