Cancer surveillance seminar in Chile

The Epidemiology Department of the Ministry of Health in Chile organized a half day seminar dedicated to cancer surveillance on the 19th of April 2024.

Dr. Patricia Cerda and her team presented the current status and plans regarding population-based cancer registries, the hospital- based cancer registries and the National Paediatric Cancer Registry (RENCI).

Marion Piñeros of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) – Global Initiative for Cancer Registry Development (GICR) presented on global surveillance activities, the latest data on the cancer burden in Latin America, as well as advances in the collection of stage data in population-based cancer registries (PBCR’s).
